USA – Beijing, China

  • Depart the U.S. on your international flight to Beijing, China’s incredible capital, arriving on Day 2.
Day  2

Beijing

  • On arrival at Beijing, enjoy a convenient transfer by a private car to your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring independently. Perhaps enjoy the amenities at your hotel or discover Beijing’s bustling streets, restaurants, and shopping.
Day  3

Beijing ( B L DP)

  • Following breakfast, spend the day sightseeing in this immense city. See the buildings around the vast expanse of Tiananmen Square, the scene of China’s 1989 uprising, and explore the moated palace compound of the Forbidden City, composed of around 800 buildings that were once home to China’s Ming and Qing emperors. This afternoon, visit the Summer Palace, an 18th-century garden retreat where China’s imperial families escaped Beijing’s summer heat. Tonight, enjoy a traditional Peking Duck dinner.

  • Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City Tour

    Enjoy a fascinating walking tour around Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square, and explore the UNESCO-protected Forbidden City, the palatial complex used by China’s emperors between 1420 and 1912.

    Summer Palace with Lake Cruise Tour

    Experience the UNESCO-listed Summer Palace, once the garden retreat of China’s royals, on this scenic tour. Admire the exquisite architecture and landscapes, and enjoy a cruise on idyllic Kunming Lake.

Day  4

Beijing ( B L DH)

  • Today, journey north of Beijing to the Great Wall of China at Badaling. View China’s suburbs and countryside on route, and ride a cable car up to this architectural wonder. Soak in the panoramic views as you stroll along the battlements, and hear about the wall’s history and construction. After lunch at the Commune by the Great Wall located in the surrounding hills, return to Beijing for time at leisure. Alternatively, why not join our included tour of the ‘Hutongs,’ the city’s labyrinthine ancient passageways. Dinner is at your hotel tonight.

  • Hutong Tour

    Discover the untainted charm of old town Beijing on a rickshaw tour of the hutongs (narrow alleyways). Lined with wood carvings, ornate brick designs and traditional courtyard residences, the hutongs offer a glimpse into a world far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.

    Great Wall Tour

    Visit China’s UNESCO-listed Great Wall, the world’s longest man-made structure. Travel to the Badaling section, the best-preserved segment, and enjoy up to two hours to walk along the wall, originally built during the Ming dynasty. Continue to the Commune by the Great Wall, a boutique mountain resort that offers exclusive access to the Shuiguan stretch of wall. Enjoy a 3-course Western-style lunch at the Commune, and visit the off-limits Shuiguan section, experiencing the wall from a whole new angle.

Day  5

Beijing – Xian ( B DH)

  • This morning, visit the beautiful Temple of Heaven, a sacrificial altar in imperial times and a Beijing must-see today. Admire the ornate temple and richly decorated halls before transferring to the airport and flying to Xian. Savor dinner at your hotel this evening.

    Fine Dining Experience: Buffet dinner at the luxurious Westin Hotel with a private visit to hotel’s Xian Qujiang Museum on Fine Art.

  • Temple of Heaven Tour

     Visit the 15th-century Temple of Heaven, where the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties prayed the god of heaven for fruitful harvests. The architecture is widely dignified as the noblest example of religious architecture in all of China.

Day  6

Xian ( B L DS)

  • Today, enjoy a full-day tour of Xian, an old capital of China that was the power base of 73 emperors across 13 dynasties. Take a walk along the wellpreserved city walls, and visit the Terracotta Army Museum to marvel at the thousands of life-size statues of infantrymen, horsemen, and charioteers. Learn how the figurines were carved and assembled in around 200 BC, and fortuitously discovered in 1974. Stop for lunch during your tour, and end your day attending an exciting dinner show with V.I.P. seating at the Tang Dynasty Palace, a musical and acrobatic celebration of China’s Tang dynasty era.
  • Terracotta Warriors and City Wall Tour

    View Xian’s Terracotta Warriors, the incredible army of 8,000 life-size clay figures interred with China’s first Qin emperor in 200 BC, before visiting the city’s 14th-century walls, the best-preserved in China.

Day  7

Xian – Guilin ( B D)

  • Today fly to Guilin, a modern city in Guangxi Province that is the gateway to some of China’s most enchanting scenery — the crowds of limestone karsts that rise up around the city and the winding River Li. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Enjoy casual dinner at a local restaurant either in Xian or Guilin.
Day  8

Guilin ( B L DH)

  • After breakfast, take an unforgettable cruise along the River Li through a wonderland of forest-clad karsts and rock pinnacles. Drink in the ethereal-looking peaks that loom over rice paddies, buffalo fields, and fishing rafts on the river. Your cruise takes you to the town of Yangshuo, where you will have lunch before exploring its traditional houses and shops. Later, return to Guilin and savor dinner at your hotel this evening.
  • Li River Cruise Tour

    Admire China’s breathtaking countryside on a Li River cruise to Yangshuo. Drift by limestone karsts, conical peaks, fishing rafts, and rice and buffalo fields, all ethereally beautiful and atmospheric.

    Reed Flute Cave Tour

    Visit Guilin’s spectacular Reed Flute Cave, a millennias-old limestone palace of stalagmites, stalactites, and rock formations. Wonder at the illuminated caverns and the ancient inscriptions on the walls.

Guilin – Shanghai ( B L D)

  • Check out after breakfast, and after a photo stop at Elephant Trunk Hill, witness the stunning rock formations inside the Reed Flute Cave. After dinner at a local restaurant, take a short flight to Shanghai, China’s economic and financial powerhouse, and transfer to your hotel.
